With only a few months on the market, the 2006 vintage Syrah-Tempranillo Vineyard Loranque has achieved its first international recognition. It was awarded a silver medal in the prestigious competition “Vinalies Internationales”, organized by the Union des Enologues de France, and sponsored by the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin and Fédération Mondiale des Grands Concours.

Over 100 tasters from around the world participated in this prestigious competition, rating the quality of nearly 4,000 wines.

Only five 'Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla' were awarded medals. The Vinalies Internationales competition gives each member of the panel of 5 to 7 judges the mission of rating every wine entered in the contest and providing them with tasting notes. After individual blind tastings the jury panel Chairman documents the commentaries in real time and where necessary finer points are discussed in order to reach a general consensus.

In summary, the aim of L’Union des Œnologues de France is to promote the purest representations of terroir and guaranteeing that every awarded winemaker is given a high international profile: every award-winner is free to use the badge bearing the competition’s emblem on their products, which is a bona fide point of sales promoting “a product which is certified and guaranteed by a professional association.”
